The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.

The meeting began with a Transfer Station update from Director Jotham Arber, and an update from Guthrie County Emergency Management Coordinator Bob Kempf. Kempf mentioned how Guthrie County has been declared part of the state individual assistance grant program for flood recovery, and so far four residents have inquired about financial assistance. He also mentioned the Bagley City Council discussed at their recent meeting the possibility of joining the Xenia Rural Water District instead of building a water treatment facility in light of their public health notice due to high manganese levels. Also, Facilities Manager Brandon Thompson discussed county items going to a consignment sale on April 13th at Laughery Auction Service.

Next, the Board heard a presentation from Michael S. Lewis of Shive Hattery Architecture and Engineering on the phase two designs for the jail project. The proposed design estimates a total cost of $6.775 million for the law enforcement center, with $5.93 million of that for the construction. The Board and Thompson discussed the possibility of constructing a new parking lot for the courthouse in conjunction with the jail project. Sid Samuels, President of the Samuels Group, said that once Lewis has fine tuned his designs the Samuels Group will bring a cost estimate by May for the Board to consider moving forward with setting a bond referendum vote in August. Finally, Guthrie County Engineer Josh Sebern gave a secondary roads update.
