A Grand Junction man has been sentenced to jail and must be on the state sex offender registry after pleading guilty to sexually abusing a minor.

According to court documents, 29-year-old Steve Clifford Jones pled guilty to an aggravated misdemeanor for indecent contact with a child and a Class C Felony for third degree sexual abuse. Jones was sentenced to 180-days in the Greene County Jail for the aggravated misdemeanor charge and had his ten year prison sentence suspended and was placed on probation for five years for the felony charge. As a condition of the plea agreement, Jones was also ordered to be on the state sex offender registry for life for the felony charge.

The charges stemmed from incidents where Jones commited sexual acts against a minor female from February 2015 through September 2017. He was also ordered to pay over $3,000 in fines, court costs, court-appointed attorney fees, victim restitution, and surcharges.
