It’s year number two of the Greene County High School soccer team under the direction of head coach Marilyn Tasler. Mirabel Hernandez joins the program as the assistant coach. The Rams won two matches in 2018, their initial year of the sport, and return quite a few players with one or more years of varsity soccer experience.
One of the returning players is Aubrey Heupel. The Rams had difficulty scoring goals last season. The junior forward would like to see more scoring take place this season and she told Raccoon Valley Radio the joy everyone feels when the Rams score a goal. “I feel like when anyone on the team makes a goal, it’s such a good feeling for everyone and not just the person that makes it. All you’re teammates are coming together and giving high fives, saying ‘good job.’ It’s a really good feeling when you make a goal.”
Greene County opens the season on April 1 in Stuart vs. West Central Valley. They stay on the road on April 4 vs. Carroll High, then open at home in Grand Junction on Friday, April 5 vs. Perry.
