Non-profit and civic organizations around Dallas County will be receiving almost $140,000, as the Dallas County Foundation (DCF) and Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation (GGCGC) have announced the recipients for their 2019 grant awards.
The DCF will be giving $95,706 to 35 non-profits in the County for a variety of purchases and projects. Some of the larger grants include: $4,000 to the Adel Partners Chamber of Commerce for the Kinnick to Raccoon trail project; $4,000 to Habitat for Humanity for the CAPABLE pilot program; $5,000 to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Benevolent Association for bulletproof vests; $6,000 to Perry Middle School for art room renovations; and $7,500 to Perry’s Academic, Cultural, and Enrichment Services (PACES) program for a “makerspace lab.”
Meanwhile, GGCGC awarded $43,047 to three organizations for community improvement projects, including: $10,047 to the Adel Fire Association for a utility terrain vehicle; $13,000 to the Food Bank of Iowa for a delivery vehicle; and $20,000 to the Waukee Betterment Foundation for a Miracle Park fishing pier. The money provided by both charitable organizations will be presented at a special banquet on April 30th at the American Legion in Van Meter.
