The Panorama track and field teams continued a strong start to the season Thursday at the Davis Relays in Perry. The Panther girls took first place in the team standings by a wide margin with 190 points.
First place finishes came from Shey Storesund in the long jump, Ella Waddle in the 3000-meters, Kassidy Bremer in the 100 and 200-meters, Lydia Lindstrom in the 400-meters and 400-meter hurdles, Morgan Johnk in the 100-meter hurdles and the relay teams in the sprint medley, shuttle hurdle, distance medley and 4×400.
Coach Greg Thompson said most of the girls weren’t satisfied with their performances, but he was pleased with how they competed given that it was chilly and windy and they had competed just two days earlier.
The Panther boys were led by an event win for Gracen Welberg in the high jump. Welberg also finished third in the 400-meter hurdles and 110 high hurdles. Luke South took second in both of those hurdle races and the relay teams were third in the 4×800 and sprint medley.
Coach Mike Kauzlarich said he had to shuffle around his lineup due to illness, but he thought his squad competed well.
Both the Panther boys and girls will next compete Tuesday when they host the Kip Janvrin Invite.
