A reminder that today is the Iowa High School Music Association State Solo and Small Ensemble Contest.

Greene County High School is one of the host sites and has several students participating. There are 18 solos and five ensembles competing for band, while the choir entries include: 16 solos, a trio, a madrigal choir and four chamber choirs. Along with Greene County, other schools competing in Jefferson today are Perry, Adel-DeSoto-Minburn, Gilbert, Boone and Webster City.

All students are competing against a rating system. A Division I-rating is for a superior performance and the ratings go down to a Division IV. The public is encouraged to attend. A suggested donation is $3 for adults and $1 for students. The event will be from 8am to 5pm.
