The Perry School Board will convene Monday evening in regular session.

The first item on the agenda is a public hearing to present the fiscal year 2020 budget. Director of Finance Kent Bultman and Superintendent Clark Wicks will give a brief overview of school finance, and the public is encouraged to weigh in on the school’s spending. Following the hearing, the Board will consider approval of the certified budget. During reports, they will receive updates on the Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) conference, the Capturing Kids Hearts program, and the industrial technology facility and wrestling/multipurpose room project.

In general business, the Board will approve the members of the School Improvement Advisory Committee (SIAC), as well as the learning goals for the committee moving forward. Next, they will consider a proposal from Instrumental Music Directors Brad Sparks and Lisa Christensen on starting up a fifth grade band in the coming school year. That will be followed by discussion on the District’s continued participation in the Instructional Support Program, as well as approval of the 2019-2020 health insurance plan and rates through the Iowa Schools Employee Benefits Association (ISEBA), which includes a partially self-funded plan.

Finally, the Board will consider approval of continuing the Capturing Kids Hearts program for the next school year. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Monday in the high school’s Brady Library.
