Greene County sends its high school girls and boys track & field teams to Carroll Athletic Field today for the Carroll Coed Invitational. Greene County’s Rams and Carroll’s Tigers will be joined by Perry, Woodward-Granger, IKM-Manning, Audubon, MVAOCOU (Mapleton), and South Central Calhoun (Lake City). Starting time is 4:30 p.m.

There are 10 days left for Iowa high school track & field athletes to qualify for the 2019 Drake Relays April 25, 26, 27. Greene County junior high jumper Carter Morton is an automatic qualifier for Drake with a leap of 6′ 7″ earlier this season. Other Greene County events with the best chances heading into this week include sophomore Brooklyn Olson in the girls’ discus throw as she is number 11, according to information posted online at www.quikstats.com, and 24 girls will qualify in that event. The girls’ 4 x 100 and boys’ 4 x 100 relays also have chances to qualify because Drake accepts the fastest 96 times by the cutoff date. The girls’ quartet of senior Melanie Doran, junior Maddy Sigler, and sophomores Makala Kafer and Brianna Osterson enter the week at number 60, while the Rams are on the outside looking in at number 102 on the boys’ side, but one good race could get them in.
