It’s a busy day in Greene County today.

The day kicks-off with the Greene County Chamber and Tourism Ag Breakfast taking place at the Jefferson Elks Lodge from 6 to 10am. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under and are available at the door. All proceeds will go to the local 4-H’ers for the premium junior auction during this year’s Greene County Fair.

Then from 10am to noon, you can enjoy free ice cream at the Thomas Jefferson Gardens Education and Welcome Center as the Thomas Jefferson Gardens Board celebrates our country’s third President’s birthday. While you’re there, you can catch the free legislative forum at 11am with State Senator Jerry Behn of Boone and State Representative Phil Thompson of Jeffferson.

The Jefferson VFW Vendor Fair is going on today from 10am to 4pm at Clover Hall on the Greene County Fairgrounds in Jefferson. There is a $1 entry fee with all proceeds going back to the VFW Post #9599 for operational expenses and local projects.

Tonight is Paton-Churdan High School’s prom with “A Night in Paris.” The public can look at the decorations in the gym of the school building in Churdan from 5 to 6:45pm, with the Grand March to take place at 7. A French meal will be served at 7:45 with the dance to begin at 8:30. After-prom will be at the bowling alley in Fort Dodge.

Also tonight is the Jefferson Matters: Main Street Family Feud-Jefferson Edition fundraiser. It is just like the game show with four “families” battling it out for a chance to win two traveling trophies. Audience tickets maybe still available at the door for $20 which includes light appetizers and you can bring your own beverages. It starts with a social hour at 7pm and the game show to begin at 8.
