Two local communities have been announced as recipients of state funding for downtown rehabilitation projects.
The cities of Adair and Casey are each receiving $100,000 Community Catalyst grants from the Iowa Economic Development Authority. Adair will use the grant for their $316,495 321 Building project. Casey will use the grant for their $454,582 Heritage Building project. These are two of 29 projects chosen across the state, with a goal to redevelop or rehabilitate buildings to stimulate economic growth and reinvestment. The Community Catalyst program requires at least 40% of funds be awarded to cities with fewer than 1,500 people, and Adair and Casey both qualify.
