The Iowa High School Athletic Association released boys’ golf postseason assignments recently. Coach Heath Telleen’s Greene County boys will travel west to Denison for a May 10 Class 3A Sectional Tournament at the Majestic Hills Golf Course. Denison-Schleswig will host Greene County, ADM, Atlantic, Carroll, Creston, Glenwood, and Harlan. Those qualifying from the Sectional to the District will play on May 17 at the Atlantic Golf & Country Club.
Coach Tellen coached Greene County girls’ golf before switching to the boys’ team this season, and has had teams at Majestic Hills previously. He told Raccoon Valley Radio it’s a very tough field of teams. “It’s a very competitive field. It’ll be an uphill battle for us for sure to advance. We might sneak an individual through if they have a good day that day, that’s a possibility. We had the girls there a number of years ago and it’s a course that looks like it goes forever. On the back nine, there’s a lot of hills and some of those holes look like they never end. But, it’s kind of an optical illusion because it’s not framed by trees. It’ll be a nice challenging course for our boys.”
The Rams are schedule for boys’ golf on Monday at Ft. Dodge vs. St. Edmond.
