The State of Iowa is still recovering from the catastrophic flooding event in March, and few cities managed to escape the disaster unscathed. The City of Adel was no exception, as many of their public parks were in desperate need of repair after the floods.
While most, such as Kinnick-Feller Park, have since been rehabilitated, there’s still one last area that needs some work. The Island Park Campground is currently closed for camping until further notice, as City crews continue to repair roads, camping spots, and other amenities. The park is typically open for camping season at this time, but the City staff feels it’s not quite ready to be inhabited. One piece of good news, however, is that the Island Park Soccer Complex is currently operational.
