Perry residents may have noticed that there have been several open fire hydrants recently. That’s going to continue as the City’s Water Works Department conducts their yearly spring flushing of the system.

Water Superintendent Hank Schmidt says the work is routine maintenance of the pipes throughout the City, and nothing that citizens need to be concerned with. He says there shouldn’t be any interruptions of water service or loss of pressure when the flushing is taking place, and there shouldn’t be any instances of discoloration in the water. However, if anyone is experiencing those or any other issues with their water, Schmidt encourages them to reach out to the Water Works Office at 515-465-2562.

The water system flushing should be wrapped up by the middle of next week.
