One of Perry’s preschool centers was recently recognized by a national organization for the work they do, and will continue its status as an accredited institution.
The Perry Child Development Center (PCDC) was accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The center first earned the distinction in 1995, and it will continue for another five years. While not required to continue operations, the PCDC has made it a point to seek accreditation in order to show the community that the children in the program are getting the best early education possible.
In order to earn the status from the NAEYC, the PCDC completed an extensive self-study and quality improvement process, in addition to an onsite visit by assessors. In particular, the center had to meet 10 program standards and hundreds of other individual requirements. The Perry School District, which oversees the PCDC, said they are proud of the work being done at the preschool, adding that the accredited status is an example of the program’s quality.
