Guthrie County Hospital is celebrating their staff during National Hospital Week with themed dress-up days, dinners, and award ceremonies.
CEO Patrick Peters, an Air Force veteran, uses the phrase “esprit de corps” to describe the sense of enthusiasm and devotional spirit he hopes this week will instill in his staff. He mentions a musical twist for the observance,“This year our theme we are calling this GCH, Guthrie County Hospital, ‘Rock Stars’ is our theme this year. So we’ve designed a shirt, you probably have seen when you’ve gone to concerts they’ll have the band, name of the band, and then the venue’s listed on the back. We’ve kind of done a take on that for our employees to make it a fun week.”
The dress-up days include wearing your favorite band t-shirt, throwback, and wacky sock days. Peters adds the events are held to honor the staff’s hard work, and to remind people not to take themselves too seriously and enjoy life and one another. A highlight for the week will be the announcement of the DAISY and Sunshine awards for nursing and Certified Nursing Assistant staff, to be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sneakers Cafe in the hospital.
