A Panora business broke ground for an expansion project Friday morning.

Nutriom, LLC. hosted the event to celebrate the addition of a pasteurization facility at their property located on the south edge of town. Panora City Administrator Lisa Grossman and Panora Area Development Group President and Panorama Superintendent Shawn Holloway also took part in the groundbreaking for the building, which is expected to be constructed by this fall and operating next March. The 9,000-square-foot addition will allow Nutriom to work with many egg suppliers in the region to be able to unload eggs safer and more efficiently, and free up the main building for future addition of a third drying lane and a new freeze dryer chamber to support the business. The total estimated cost of the pasteurization building is $2.5 million. Nutriom has been in Panora since 2017 and houses about 48 employees for its dehydrated food production.
