The Greene County High School girls and boys each have one event today, this third and final day of competition at the 2019 Iowa High School Coed State Track & Field Championships at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.
Officials moved today’s start time up to 8 a.m. in an effort to try and beat possible severe weather. The Rams will run shortly after 8 in the 2A girls’ sprint medley relay with Paige Heaning, Maddy Sigler, Makala Kafer, and Brianna Osterson.
The lone boys’ event is the 110 meter high hurdles later this morning with junior Carter Morton in the 2A field. He qualified through Friday’s prelims in 15.55 seconds, the seventh fastest time in the field.
Morton placed third in the 2A boys’ high jump yesterday at 6′ 4″ in the rain. Just three of the field of 24 jumped higher than 6′ 1″. Morton was also ninth in the 400 meter low hurdles in a career best :57.06, also in the rain. He entered the meet at the number 17 qualifier and missed placing top eight by .04.
