The severe weather risk has been downgraded, but still a potential for the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area.
According to the National Weather Service, Greene, Dallas and Guthrie counties are now under a marginal risk for severe weather for the rest of the day today. The main time period for severe weather begins this afternoon and into the evening. The main threats with the storms include up to golf ball sized hail, up to 60-miles-per-hour winds and possible isolated tornadoes.
All three counties could see between one to three inches of rainfall through early Sunday morning. Due to the additional rainfall, the National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for Dallas and Guthrie counties. Weather officials say this could also cause river flooding that could go into next week.
Anytime there’s severe weather in Greene, Dallas and Guthrie counties, the Raccoon Valley Radio’s Severe Weather Action Team provides live coverage of the storms until the severe weather moves out of the primary coverage area or drops below severe levels. The one to count on for severe weather coverage is the Raccoon Valley Radio Network.
