The special election to vote on the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School District bond referendum for a new school building will be held on Tuesday, June 25th. Before then, the District is seeking to spread information on the project.
The purpose of the bond is to build a new elementary building in Adel, which would house grades 2-4, in order to keep up with the District’s rapid growth. ADM Superintendent Greg Dufoe says the bond is for $15.75 million, with the entire project costing an estimated $18 million. The remainder would be paid through the school’s Statewide Penny for Infrastructure (SAVE) funds. In order to keep the public up-to-date with accurate information, Dufoe says the ADM administration will be heading into the community to educate the public. “We have a lot of speaking engagements coming up with civic organizations and city councils. And we also have two public information meetings, the first one’s May 21st, so coming up pretty quickly, and the next one’s in June. A lot of information is on our website, we’ve really done a nice job putting a ton of information out for voters on our website. So that’s a go-to spot for people who want more information.”
Dufoe presented the project to the Adel City Council at their most recent meeting to get the outreach started. Both the May 21st informational meeting and the one on June 12th will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the ADM High School Auditorium.
