ACGC senior Clay Billheimer closed out his high school athletic career on a high note at the 2019 Iowa High School Co-Ed State Track and Field Meet, Saturday. Billheimer broke his own school record in the 800 meter run, placing 10th with a time of 1:59.19.

Billheimer, who also finishes his career with the 400 and 1600 meter records, shared his thoughts on wearing the Charger gold and black for the final time. “It’s pretty sad. Joining schools, I was skeptical, but then it’s the best teammates (I’ve) ever had joining schools. It’s just pretty sad leaving them.”

Classmate Noah Nelsen also ran his final race as an ACGC Charger, taking the blue oval in the 1600. Shortly after the start, Nelsen got tangled up with some of the other participants and stumbled. Unfortunately, the Charger record holder in the 3200 couldn’t recover and finished in 22nd.

Junior Kate Crawford also competed in the 800 and 1500 meter runs, finishing in 15th and 7th place respectively. The ACGC girls finished in a tie for 20th with 13 points, and the boys finished in a tie for 56th with one point.
