Fire crews were able to save a house following a garage fire south of Perry Sunday morning.
Perry Assistant Fire Chief Brian Eiteman tells Raccoon Valley Radio when he responded to the structure fire at 9:55am at 19217 150th Street, the attached garage was fully engulfed in flames. Fire crews were able to put out the blaze and save the house. Eiteman notes there’s only smoke and water damage to the home.
Eiteman says the homeowners had just left for vacation prior to the start of the fire that was called in by a neighbor. While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, Eiteman believes it to be accidental in nature. He adds that no one was hurt and the garage was considered to be a total loss, along with two vehicles that were inside.
According to the Dallas County Assessor’s real estate webpage, the owners of the home are James and Sandra Eaton. The Perry Police Department, Dallas County Sheriff’s office, Dallas County Emergency Medical Services, Perry First Responders and Alliant Energy assisted at the scene. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
