The Guthrie Center Chamber of Commerce is working to cultivate a larger draw to tourism in their community after attending a recent summit.
Chamber President Kristen Crouthamel says she and other local stakeholders recently attended the Destination Development Summit and came back with an action plan on how to make Guthrie Center a better place to live, work, and visit, “We’re going to call our new venture if you will, ‘Destination Guthrie Center.’ And we have selected certain individuals in our community: community leaders, members, some students to be a part of this branding opportunity to kind of set us apart from other communities and attract tourists, because if you can get them here they’ll spend their money here. But the trick is getting them here so we’re pretty excited about that.”
Crouthamel says they will be forming several committees to develop tourism and will be holding a workshop on June 19th in effort to create a specific brand for the town.
