The annual Perry Public Library Kidsfest was held Saturday, and families from the Perry area and beyond stopped by the take part in the festivities.

Assistant Library Director Misty VonBehren said everyone was having fun, particularly with the bubble station, and she was grateful that the weather cooperated in the end. Activities during the day included: face painting and balloon twisting; miniature golf and a kinetic sand table; and vehicles kids could explore, provided by the Perry Fire Department, Police Department, and Public Works. There was also free popcorn and $1 meals provided by the Fire Department. Additionally, the Raccoon Valley Radio Big Red Radio was at the event, as we broadcasted live, played music, and provided public address services.

VonBehren pointed out that Kidsfest is the kickoff to the library’s Summer Reading Program, and people can still sign up to take part. “School will be out this week, come in (and) sign up for the Summer Reading Program. We’ve got tons of prizes, we’ve got programs, we’ve got games, (and) activities. You might as well be here at the library having fun this summer!”

The theme for the Summer Reading Program is “A Universe of Stories.” There is no cost to participate, and there are programs for kids, teens, and adults.
