
Thursday, May 30th
12:06am: An officer located an Open Door at the Greene County Fairgrounds at 601 East Lincoln Way Street. The officer was able to secure the door.
12:28am: An officer located an Unsecured Door at 1002 North Cedar Street. The door was secured by the officer.
8:33am: Officers were once again called to the area of McKinley and Wilson Ave. for an ATV being ridden on the street. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Rodney James Blackmon, 23 of Jefferson for, “Driving While Barred – Aggravated.” During the event, the officers were faced with several subjects unhappy about the arrest of Blackmon. One subject knocked a beverage can off of a grill, landing beside the officer’s feet. The officer attempted to arrest the subject and he fled on foot. The Sheriff’s Office joined in the search for the fleeing male. The subject was not located by the officers. Arrest Warrants have been requested for Kole Alexander Higgins, 24 of Scranton for, “Disorderly Conduct – Simple and Interference with Official Acts – Simple.” As officers were searching for Higgins, a female from the residence was driving her vehicle in the 200 Block of East Lincoln Way Street. The female parked her vehicle, exited the vehicle and stood in the roadway screaming at officers as they drove past. The officer arrested Kelsy Kay Stringer, 27 of Jefferson for, “Disorderly Conduct – Simple.”
9:28am: Hy Vee reported receiving 4 personal checks from a subject in the past 24 hours. They believed the checks may not honored at the bank. Th officer is investigating the event.
1:35pm: Lance Ross reported as he drove through the trailer park at 701 North Cedar Street, a subject struck his vehicle with a skid loader. An argument ensued and Ross left the scene and contacted police. The officer determined the subject was spreading gravel with the loader and had backed from a driveway, striking the Ross vehicle as he drove past. The 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix, owned by Ross, suffered a reported $2500.00 in damages.
1:56pm: The White Oak Station, located at 303 North Elm Street reported an overnight theft. A subject had stolen a lighter, valued at $3.99 while the clerk was in the restroom. The officer has video of the event and has identified the male subject. Charges will be filed shortly.
3:00pm: A caller advised of heavy smoke coming from a Controlled Burn at 102 East Monroe Street. The officer learned the subject was legally burning yard waste. No action could be taken by the officer.
4:23pm: An officer investigated a Two Vehicle Property Damage Accident at the intersection of North Wilson and Clark Streets. A 2014 Honda CR, owned and operated by Molly Hughes of Jefferson, was eastbound on Clark Street. Hughes did not yield to a northbound vehicle on Wilson Avenue at eh intersection. The northbound vehicle was a 1999 Chevy Lumina, owned by Central Iowa Builders and driven by Cheyanne Ferguson of Jefferson. The Hughes vehicle had a reported $3000.00 in damages, while the Ferguson vehicle had a reported $2000.00 in damage. Hughes was cited for, “Fail to Yield to Vehicle on Right.”
6:14pm: An officer assisted a motorist with vehicle trouble at Elm and Lincoln Way Streets.
9:03pm: A male subject spoke to an officer about being blackmailed. He had accepted a friend request on Face Book by an unknown female. They asked him to send a sexual video to them and she would send one back. The mail did so and now the female is demanding $500.00, or the video will be put on the internet. The officer explained the dangers of sending photos or videos to others and explained we can not investigate the event as we do not know who the female is. The officer advised the male not to send the payment and do not have any further contact with the subject on-line.
9:23pm: Michelle Hanson brought a stray dog to the LEC she had located near Locust and Russell Streets. The officer placed the dog in the Animal Holding Facility.
9:29pm: Bruce Binkley requested assistance in locating his juvenile grandson, who had left after an argument with Binkley. He was located a few minutes later by the officer.
9:46pm: Brenda Batschelet reported a vehicle nearly struck her as she crossed Elm Street in the North 400 Block. She could not provide many details about the vehicle.
10:53pm: Hannah Gliem reported a male customer at 606 Hwy. 30 who was harassing her as she worked. He was asked to leave, but refused to do so. The officer spoke to the male, who left the business.
10:56pm: A caller advised a Barred Driver had left in a vehicle from a residence in the 700 Block of North Wilson Ave. The officer did not locate the vehicle.
Friday, May 31st
1:11am: Thomas Oyres called 911 and then hung up when dispatch answered the call. He called back a minute later and advised subjects were at his residence that he did not like, but they had left and no assistance was needed.
2:04am: An officer assisted the GC Ambulance with a Medical Call in the 1000 Block of West Adams Street.
5:00am: An officer issued a Parking Violation Notice in the 200 Block of East State Street for, “Street Sweeping Parking Violation.”
5:01am: An officer issued a Parking Violation Notice in the 100 Block of East State Street for, “Street Sweeping Parking Violation.”
5:05am: An officer issued a Parking Violation Notice in the 100 Block of South Wilson Avenue for, “Street Sweeping Parking Violation.”
8:35am: A caller advised of unsafe road conditions on North Grimmell Road at the construction site of the new high school. The officer drove through the area and did not find any issues.
9:35am: David Rivera advised of a fawn deer in his yard at 305 West Russell Street. The officer advised Rivera to leave the baby deer alone and the mother will return later for it.
1:05pm: Casey Jones reported small children playing in the street in the 200 Block of South Oak Street. The children had returned to the yard with their mother as the officer arrived.
3:14pm: An officer towed a vehicle from the 700 Block of South Oak Street for a “48 Hour Parking” Violation. The vehicle had been issued a Parking Violation Notice in previous days, but still remained on the street.
3:52pm: Daniel Kernen requested an officer at 405 South Chestnut Street for two men sitting in a vehicle in his drive. When the officer arrived Kernen reported all was fine and he actually knew the two subjects.
5:01pm: Matthew Rank requested an officer at 204 West Harrison Street because another juvenile there wished to fight him. The officer spoke to both parties before they left with a parent.
6:27pm: An officer assisted the GC Ambulance with a Medical Call in the 800 Block of West South Street.
6:53pm: A Traffic Stop in the 600 Block of Hwy. 30 East resulted in Keith Lee of DSM being cited for, “Driving While Suspended.”
8:39pm: A Traffic Stop near 220th and Oakland Streets resulted in David Cunningham of Paton being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”
8:50pm: An officer assisted a motorist with mechanical issues in the 1900 Block of North Elm Street.
8:54pm: An officer spoke to the resident at 1311 West Lincoln Way Street about Grass Clippings in the street.
9:14pm: An officer investigated a Two Vehicle Car/Deer Accident at 220 th and Oakland Ave. A 2015 Chevrolet Malibu, owned by Misty Preuschal and operated by Dacoda Zipse both of Harlan, was eastbound on 220th Street. Zipse advised he struck a deer in the roadway. The deer flew into the other lane and struck a westbound vehicle. The 2005 Chevrolet Silverado was owned by Dennis Louk and operate by Brock Louk both of Jefferson. The Zipse vehicle suffered a reported $10,00.00 in damages. The Louk vehicle had a reported $500.00 in damages.
9:21pm: Gaige Butler reported an older white pickup with a male driver following her and a friend as they walked on East McKinley Street, and again in the 100 Block of South Wilson Ave. The officer did not locate the reported vehicle.
11:21pm: A Traffic Stop in the 200 Block of West Reed Streets resulted in Matthew Penley of NE. being cited for, “Fail to Have a Valid Driver’s License and Fail to Provide Proof of Financial Liability.”
Saturday, June 1st
12:51am: Terence Bingley reported a male, dressed in black, was walking in the 100 Block of West Harrison Street. He advised the male was yelling and flashing gestures with his hands. The officer spoke to a male a few blocks away, who was walking home from a friend’s residence. He advised he would “Quiet Down.”
7:06am: Barb Kruger spoke with an officer concerning a neighborhood dog that barks early in the mornings. She ultimately decided she would speak to the neighbor herself and needed no assistance from the officer.
9:49am: Nicole Johnson reported she believed her ex-boyfriend was coming to her residence and taking belongings. Johnson was advised to call if he returns to the property.
4:24pm: Teresa Easterday reported witnessing a male run into a hanger at the airport on his golf cart. The hanger metal wall was damaged. The officer is investigating.
4:47pm: A Traffic Stop in the 500 Block of East Lincoln Way Street resulted in Anthony Pille of Jefferson being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”
4:57pm: Monte Rofalez requested an officer to stand by while he changed a door knob on a client’s apartment at 1000 West Adams Street. The officer stood by while the work was completed without issue.
Sunday, June 2nd
12:55am: Kris Davidson reported hearing noises in a vacant neighboring property at 505 West State Street. She felt it may be squatters. The officer went to the residence, which had belongings inside and open windows. He believed someone must have recently moved in.
1:58am: An officer removed a bat from the residence at 300 East Washington Street.
7:37am: Kenny Mooney advised a stray dog followed him home from his walk to 1413 Southfield Drive. The officer placed the animal in the Animal Holding Facility.
5:03pm: Billie Jo Hovick reported a female came to her door at 507 West Harrison Street claiming to be sent by her insurance company to take photos. After refusing to advise which company she worked for, the female left the area.
5:50pm: Terry Becker advised he caught a stray dog at 504 East Monroe Street. The officer placed the animal in the Animal Holding Facility.
6:04pm: Boone County advised of a Speeding Vehicle driving westbound towards Jefferson on 220th Street. The officer did not locate the vehicle.
7:25pm: A caller advised of a Careless Driver approaching Jefferson from the west on 220th Street. The officer located the vehicle and followed it for several blocks. The officer did not see any infractions.
7:47pm: Josh Carlson caught a stray dog at 600 South Chestnut Street. The officer located the animal’s owner and returned the animal.
Monday, June 3rd
9:09am: An anonymous male called and advised of a barking dog complaint in the 200 block of North West Street.
3:41pm: Shawn Annear spoke with an officer about a civil question.
4:12pm: Christina Rickheim advised of a possible fire in the 100 block of South Wilson Avenue. An officer and the Jefferson Fire Department arrived and extinguished the fire.
6:20pm: An anonymous male advised of a male operating a dirt bike in the 600 block of North Chestnut Street.
**** As a result of a traffic stop at the intersection of East Monroe and South Wilson Avenue on May 11, 2019, at 1906 hours, Shelly Gilbertson of Jefferson was issued a citation for Violation of Financial Liability Coverage.
