Forest Park Museum and Arboretum in Perry continues to evolve, as Curator Pete Malmberg seeks to make the exhibits more entertaining and immersive.
The prime example of that growth has been an assortment of new audio companions that have recently been installed. Malmberg says there was a positive response to the initial audio enhancements around the museum, so he felt it was only logical to add more. “This is kind of the golden age of the audio/visual phenomena around the country, and the technology has come of age. I’ve got this great contractor I work with up in Minneapolis, and they come down. And I’ve gotten really good at laying out how I want the exhibits to go as far as the narration and as far as photo editing. And we were able to install six different audio/visuals now!”
Malmberg adds, each of the audios is professionally narrated to give it a higher-quality feel for attendees. The topics for the six audio pieces include: the 1860’s log cabin; the Judge Burns story; inventor Henry Nelson; the railroad exhibit; small family farms; and old businesses and industry. Malmberg says he’ll continue getting more audio throughout Forest Park to further enhance the exhibits.
