Rain continues to be a problem for construction of the parking lot at the Dallas County Auditor’s Office in Adel, but the project is getting closer to completion.

At the recent Board of Supervisors meeting, construction manager Todd Allyn with AECOM gave an update on the renovation of the parking lot. Allyn said there is some concrete laid in the lot itself, and much of the sidewalk paving around it has been completed. He pointed out that contractors were able to get quite a bit done thanks to an extended dry period in recent weeks, though they won’t be able to hit their projected completion date of the end of June because of weather delays. Allyn said the parking lot should be completed in 2-3 weeks.

County Auditor Julia Helm said there hasn’t been much disruption to the normal business in the building, though she added they still have to remind people to use the south entrance along the alley. Despite that, she felt it hasn’t hindered voter turnout for the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School District bond referendum. The Supervisors are expected to consider the latest pay application for the project at their next meeting, which Allyn said will represent around 70% of the total cost.
