A pair of severe thunderstorms warnings were issued for southern Dallas and Guthrie counties Saturday evening, activating the Raccoon Valley Radio Severe Weather Action Team.

The first warning was issued at 7:56 p.m. and included southeastern Guthrie and southwestern Dallas, as well as northeastern Adair and northwestern Madison. The warning lasted only until 8:15 p.m., but shortly thereafter the National Weather Service issued the second warning. At 8:26 p.m., a storm reached severe levels affecting southern Dallas County, as well as northwestern Madison. The second storm dissipated prior to the warning’s predicted expiration, falling off at around 8:50.

The hazards with the storm were heavy rainfall, up to 60-mile-per-hour wind gusts, and potentially nickel-sized hail. However, no damage was reported by any emergency agencies. Two members of the Severe Weather Action team and meteorologists from Weatherology took part in the storm coverage. Whenever severe weather affects the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area, the Severe Weather Action Team will take the air to track the storm and keep the public safe.
