We’ve reached the week of Independence Day, which means it’s time to think about entering the annual Perry Fourth of July parade.
Perry Chamber of Commerce Director Lynsi Pasutti says the parade lineup will start at 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 4th, with the parade commencing at 10. It will push off at the East Perry Plaza and go down Willis Avenue all the way to Pattee Park. Pasutti admits that the route is very lengthy, but points out that people line up for every inch of that route to take in the parade. She adds, the Chamber will once again be offering prizes to the parade entries deemed to be the best. “So it’s an extra encouragement to be creative and actually make a float instead of just drive a vehicle. But I don’t think we’ll have any problems, with it being the sesquicentennial year and 150, because I’ve already heard of several businesses or organizations that have really fantastic float ideas. But there will be judging and some prizes, which are Perry Bucks for those that win.”
Pasutti reminds potential parade participants that there is no cost to join and you don’t have to sign up ahead of time.
