With today being the Fourth of July, communities around Dallas County are reminding residents of their fireworks ordinances.
Perry is one of the few cities around Iowa that allows fireworks to be discharged within city limits, though there are strict regulations for doing so. Consumer fireworks can only be used in Perry today between 9 a.m. – 11 p.m. You can only shoot them off on your own property or private property you have permission to be on. Fireworks cannot be discharged within 200 yards of the hospital or any senior care facility in town. Additionally, you must be over 18-years-old and not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Finally, the City emphasizes that fireworks are not allowed in any public place, especially Pattee Park during the Fourth of July Celebration. The penalty for violating Perry’s fireworks ordinance is a $250 fine.
In other cities around Dallas County, including Adel, the use of fireworks within city limits is strictly prohibited by their respective ordinances.
