The last home game of 2019 for the Greene County softball team is tonight at the City Diamond on E. Lincolnway in Jefferson. Coach Tom Kennedy’s Rams host the Jaguars of Southeast Valley (Gowrie) at approximately 7:30 p.m. on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.

The Rams are 9-17 after starting the season 0-8 and they’ve won five of their last seven games. SEV is 21-13 and they’ve lost three straight and four of their last five.

Greene County has an eighth grade battery in pitcher Emma Hoyle and catcher Emma Stream. Hoyle is 9-12 with a 4.65 earned run average and .293 opponent’s batting average. Those numbers have all been on a steady decline as the season has gone on, which has been good for Hoyle, and for the Rams. The team batting average is .273 and the Rams are averaging just under four errors per game.

Once the regular season is done, the Rams will set their sets on the Class 3A postseason, which starts on Wed., July 10 in State Center vs. West Marshall (13-14). The Trojans own a 5-4 victory over the Rams earlier this season. The Region 5 tournament game can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. with first pitch set for 7 p.m.
