The Perry Public Library is in the final month of their 2019 summer reading program, and there are a couple events this week for two different age groups.
On Thursday, children in kindergarten through fifth grade who are registered for the program can attend the “Absolute Science” workshop. It will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the large meeting room, and will cover a wide range of scientific adventures with attendees. That same day, adults in the community are invited to a program called “All About Drones,” which is open to the public. Library Director Mary Murphy says the program will start at 6:30 p.m. in the large meeting room, and will be facilitated by Assistant Perry Fire Chief Brian Eiteman. Murphy says she’s hopeful for good weather, as Eiteman will give a demonstration outside, showing off the capabilities of the machine. “I am really excited, because it actually shows off what the City’s drone can do. And they use it in firefighting because you can see thermal images with it. So all those things drone (related), you can ask Brian, because he’s the pro at running at least our drone.”
There is no cost to attend either event, and registration is not required. For more information on these and other upcoming programs, stop in or call the Perry Library at 515-465-3569.
