The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning in regular session.
The only action item on the agenda was regarding a Community Attraction and Tourism (CAT) Grant for the City of West Des Moines. The City is acquiring funds to build the $33.5 million MidAmerican Energy Company RecPlex, and requested money from the County to help them acquire grants from the State. The Board had initially promised $50,000 to the project, contingent upon the City receiving a $1 million grant from the Enhance Iowa Board. However, the Board awarded the project $500,000, so the Supervisors lowered their contribution proportionately, approving a one-time grant of $25,000 to West Des Moines.
The Board then discussed current and future funding of Homecare Services, in light of the department no longer being contracted by Heart of Iowa Regional Transit Authority (HIRTA) for transportation of County residents. The Supervisors elected to take no action until they are able to meet individually with the Homecare Board in the next week. The meeting concluded with a closed session to discuss purchase of particular real estate.
