This past Saturday, Perry Lutheran Homes held their second annual “Run Through Time” 5K event, and Director of Development Wanda Pritzel felt it was a big success.

“Well, if you measure it by the fact that everybody had a great time, it went really well! It was amazing to see people having so much fun and making such a difference for such a great cause at the same time. We had 75-plus people register, but not everybody was able to show up, but those that were there had a really good time. And we were able to raise over $6,000 for care of elders at Perry Lutheran Homes’ Willis Campus, and also to help support the senior fellowship meals that are held monthly at the rec center!”

Pritzel said there were many factors that contributed to the second event being even more successful than the first, including: holding the run during the evening; incorporating it into the Perry Sesquicentennial Celebration; and having the route on the Raccoon River Valley Trail, instead of city streets. She also credited the help of Raccoon Valley Radio, which was there with the Big Red Radio and also provided the music and sound systems used to play hits from different decades along the route.

Looking ahead to next year, Pritzel says they’ll keep most things the same, with the run held during one of the Chamber of Commerce’s Friday Fest events.
