There’s a new man at the helm of the activities department for the Greene County School District.

Todd Gordon is a Griswold native, and has previously served as an Activities Director or Activities Administrator for Treynor, Carlisle and most recently at Des Moines Roosevelt High School. He talks about why he and his wife Deb chose to move to Jefferson and take the Greene County AD position.

“Towards the end of my career-I mean it’s no secret, I’m towards the end-we wanted to maybe finish our career where we feel like there’s a community. And we missed that community (feel) in Des Moines. There are little pockets of community, but you don’t have the sense of community like a place like Greene County.”

Gordon adds, another key factor that brought him to the school was the positive vibrancy of new things happening in Greene County, including the new high school and career academy and the great young coaching staff for all sports. He wants to build on that positive momentum in his new position.

“I just have a vision of stands full , auditoriums full, and we try to provide opportunities for them to do that with positive coaching (and) character-based things that we’ll talk about and try to do. Our community I think will get behind that and I think they already are.”

Gordon replaced Mitch Moore as the AD after he resigned as both AD and the head football coach in mid-December. Gordon started on July 1st.
