The Perry City Council convened Monday evening in regular session.

During open forum, a resident who lives near Progressive Foundry voiced her concerns regarding the proposed expansion project for the facility, citing noise and seismic activity as her chief concerns. The Council said they would take her views under consideration and possibly address them before making a final decision on the project. In old business, the Council approved the second pay request from Des Moines Asphalt and Paving, in the amount of $21,516.36 for work completed on the 16th Street overlay and Wiese Park crack sealing project. City Engineer Matt Ferrier with Bolton and Menk mentioned that the punch list items for both jobs had been completed and a resolution for final acceptance is forthcoming.

In new business, the Council approved a resolution authorizing City Administrator Sven Peterson to sign and accept an Iowa Department of Transportation agreement for the Immediate Safety Enhancement program in order to pay for new runway end identifier lights at the Perry Municipal Airport. They also approved a temporary construction easement with April Gunderson to make repairs to a garage affected by the ground settlement around Frog Creek. Finally, the Council approved the second and third readings for a pair of ordinances to rezone the East Perry Plaza and Crossroads Church to Arterial Commercial, putting them into effect.
