A Jefferson man faces a stalking charge after several alleged incidents.
According to court documents, 64-year-old Carl Hale is charged with an aggravated misdemeanor for stalking and two serious misdemeanors for no contact violations. Court documents show that the teenage female victim first reported having issues with Hale on May 30th. The victim said she saw Hale at various places in town, including her places of employment. She claimed Hale tried making unwanted conversation and sexual motions towards her. A Jefferson Police Officer made contact with Hale, and he admitted to some of the allegations, and agreed to stop his actions toward the victim.
The victim then reported to police on June 24th that Hale’s advances and actions had gotten worse. The victim stated that Hale made a threat to one of the victim’s friends that he knew the victim had contacted law enforcement. When police questioned Hale, he admitted to all of the actions the victim had reported. He told police he believed the victim’s mother was making the victim act inappropriately and intentionally leading him on in a sexual manner. Court documents show that the officer believed Hale had a sexual obsession with the victim.
Hale was then charged with stalking and a no contact order was put in place. Court documents show Hale violated the order twice and was found guilty of the violation in magistrate court. He was ordered to serve ten and seven days respectively for the two violations, which were to be served consecutively.
According to the Greene County Attorney’s office, this is a unique case in that it has been several years since there has been a stalking case. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
