A Jefferson girl recently competed in the Governor’s Charity Steer competition at the Iowa State Fair.
Paisley Lautner was one of 25 young Iowans chosen for the competition. She showed her steer, learned additional information about the beef industry and volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Des Moines. Lautner’s steer was then sold at auction, with all proceeds going to the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Iowa. Her steer was purchased at auction for $10,042 by James Oil Company, additional support from Iowa Farm Bureau and the final market value was donated by the Lautners.
A total of over $284,000 was raised for the charity at this year’s steer show, which was hosted by Governor Kim Reynolds.
