For those in the Perry community who are unaware, there is a free service offered twice a week that can take you to and from the Perry Area Food Pantry.

Heart of Iowa Regional Transportation Authority (HIRTA) provides a free shuttle from anywhere in Perry or the surrounding area to the food pantry during the latter’s weekly open hours. HIRTA calls the program “HopeLink,” and it’s made possible thanks to a grant provided by Alliant Energy. The food pantry is open Tuesdays from 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., and Thursdays from 1-3:30 p.m. People of any age, including those with disabilities, can contact HIRTA to arrange a ride to and from the pantry’s location at the Rowley Masonic Community in Perry. Additionally, HIRTA reminds people that transportation throughout Dallas County is available weekdays from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m., though they ask for 24 hours notice.

For more information or to schedule a ride, reach out to HIRTA by phone at 877-686-0029 or email at erides@ridehirta.com. You can also click the link below to visit their website.
