jefferson-forge

Today is jammed packed full of activities in Jefferson.

The day starts with the Amazing Race for Charity. It is where teams of two will attempt to complete several mental and physical challenges throughout the city. Registrations begin at 9am, with the race to start at 10. The after-party will be on the southside of the Greene County Courthouse at 12:30pm with The Bushmen to perform. All proceeds from the event will go toward the construction of the $1.2 million Greene County Animal Facility.

Following the fundraiser will be the classic car convoy traveling along the Lincoln Highway from Washington D.C. to California. About 50-60 vehicles will be stopping in Grand Junction for lunch and then head to Jefferson around 1pm. Participants will stop by the historical museum, which will be open from 1-4pm.

Finally, the anticipated grand opening of The Forge will kick-off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4pm, followed by tours of the facility from 4-7pm. There will be parent and student educational informational sessions from 4-5pm in the Sierra Community Theater. A free barbecue meal will be served at 5pm on the northside of the Greene County Courthouse, followed by the program at 7pm. The grand opening is free and open to the public.
