More progress continues on the new high school and career academy project for the Greene County School District.

Owner’s Representative Sam Harding says the roof is in place on the career academy. The precast concrete walls are set for the academic wing and steel beams for the second floor are being installed. Harding notes the precast walls are also in place for the gymnasium and the walls for the auditorium are scheduled to be installed on September 23rd. The interior block walls are being worked on now in the gymnasium, where the south locker rooms are located.

Harding is confident they will have the entire structure enclosed by winter.

“It’s looking really good. They’ve made up a lot of time in their schedule with bringing in a lot of extra people. They are probably only a week behind now from their original schedule, which if you remember the spring we had with all the rain, that’s pretty amazing, because they had to move a lot of dirt out here. They were about a month behind at one point. They’re about a week behind now.”

Harding adds most of the dirt work is finished, with exceptions to final grading once the project is complete.
