A historic tradition in Jefferson will celebrate a milestone at its final event of the year tomorrow.

The Greene County Farmers Market is honoring 20 years with free cookies, coffee and water. The market started in 1999 as part of the Jefferson Chamber’s Summer on the Square, which was initially held only in the month of August. Since then, the market has expanded to June through September and is held weekly on Tuesday evenings.

Vendors will be on-hand tomorrow night with locally grown produce, baked goods and crafts. There are four volunteer market managers that help organize and plan each market: Kathy Walker, Candy Hoyle, Alexis Hooper, and Chris Henning. The vendor fees help to pay for advertising, training and management of the farmers market. They are also looking for a new market manager, which can be a paid or volunteer position. Interested individuals can contact Henning at 515-370-2436 or email at GCFarmersMarket37@gmail.com.

The final farmers market will be tomorrow from 4-6:30pm on the east side of the Greene County Courthouse in Jefferson.
