The Bardole family (L-R): Pete, Tim, Schyler and Roy.
The public is invited to the October program of the Greene County Historical Society.
The focus will be on heritage and century farms. A heritage farm means the farm has stayed with a family for 150 years and a century farm means it has been with the family for 100 years. The program, “Farming in Greene County: From Horse and Plow to GPS in the Fields,” will be led by historical society member Nancy Hannaman. She will talk about the Heritage and Century Farms programs in the state and how many are in Greene County. There will also be representatives from three family farms as guest speakers, the Jones family from the Dana area and the Youngs and Bardoles from the Rippey area.
The program takes place at 12:45pm on Friday, October 4th at the United Methodist Church in Rippey. Lunch will be served prior to the program at noon. The cost for the meal is $8 for historical society members and $10 for non members. Non members are encouraged to contact Margaret Hamilton at 515-386-4408 to reserve a meal. The program is free and open to the public.
