The Guthrie County Historical Village and Museum recently received a boost in funds from a local organization.
The non-profit received an $11,000 donation from the 10 Squared Women of Guthrie County to go towards the restoration of the 1915 Pullman Observation and Cafe Car. The 10 Squared Women chose the Historical Village to receive their lump sum at their quarterly meeting held at the Lake Panorama Conference Center on August 15th. The project is entering its fourth phase, which entails interior restoration. The phase will focus on removing damaged interior walls, electrical wiring, installing new insulation, walls, and period-appropriate light fixtures. The project is estimated at $17,000 and received a grant for $8,607 from the Guthrie County Community Foundation last spring.
The 10 Squared Women nominates and donates funds to Guthrie County organizations and groups. The next quarterly meeting will be on Thursday, November 21st, and the group is still accepting new members. For information on how to join, visit their Facebook page or email them at 10squaredgc@gmail.com.
