Absentee ballots are now available at the Greene County Auditor’s office for the upcoming city and school board elections.

County Deputy Auditor Billie Hoskins says there was a delay in getting the ballots ready due to the combination of the city and school elections. It took more time to set and print the ballots, and program the election equipment. She points out one change is that voters who live in Greene County, but are technically in another school district that’s outside of Greene County or Paton-Churdan must vote in Greene County. Hoskins describes the additional work that her office has to do because of that change.

“Now we have to communicate with the other (surrounding) counties because we do have school districts that dip into Greene County. They have to get us their ballot information before we can print our ballots.”

Eligible voters can now cast their ballots at the County Auditor’s office, during normal business hours of 8am-4:30pm Monday-Friday, ahead of Election Day on November 5th. Those wanting to vote via absentee ballot can request one to be mailed by October 25th. The ballots must then be postmarked by November 4th to be counted.
