The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning in regular session.
The meeting began with an update on the planning phase for the proposed third floor courtroom in the Dallas County Courthouse. Jerry Purdy with the Farnsworth Group went over some initial designs and addressed questions posed by the Board, though no decisions were made. The first action item on the agenda was approval of a wetland credit allocation of 1.09 acres to the City of West Des Moines, which leaves 11.02 acres left in their bank. Following that, the Board approved a termination notice for the 28E agreement with the Department of Transportation for driver’s license services, effective November 21st. The State must now come to a new agreement with the County to provide the service prior to the official transition of the driver’s license function to the DOT, which includes providing staff.
At 9:30 a.m., the Supervisors held a public hearing on the first amendment to the fiscal year 2020 budget. No one opposed, so they approved a related resolution, as well as the first FY20 appropriations. The Board then gave consensus to Aging Resources for funding the in-home meal program in the amount of $70,723 through June 2020, though to make it official they will consider a contract at next week’s meeting. The Supervisors then discussed but took no action on two potential ambulance fee write-off requests. The meeting concluded with a workshop with Emergency Medical Services Director Mike Thomason regarding the County’s process for unclaimed bodies, which will be revisited at a later date.
