To celebrate the completion of the 2018-2019 4-H year, Greene County Extension invites everyone to the annual 4-H Awards Night.
The event will be held at the Churdan Public Library Sunday. The festivities will start with a meal provided by the Greene County Youth Development Committee at 5pm, followed by the awards ceremony at 6. A variety of awards will be given to 4-H’ers for their accomplishments and record books for the 2019 4-H year. The record books are judged every year and this year, one of those judges was the ISU Extension Youth Program Specialist Earl McAlexander. He says record books are a way for 4-H’ers to keep track of the activities they are involved with throughout the year.
“It seems like a lot of work, but the payoff comes actually when young people get ready to apply for college and for scholarships. They have all that information that is going to be asked on those applications, all summarized and ready to go too.”
Sunday’s event is free and open to the public.
