The Perry School District is embracing technology by transitioning registration and enrollment to the internet, which will take effect soon.
Superintendent Clark Wicks says the School Board recently approved online enrollment and registration through PowerSchool, which he says will simplify what can sometimes be a confusing process. “They talked a lot in the Technology Department, and with the other people that enroll and register people, (about) how much time it takes to not only enroll people, but then to make a lot of the corrections. And things have to be exact, because then when we download that into our PowerSchool and then transfer that to the state, many times we’re redoing a number of things. There’ll be a much cleaner way of delivering our information on our students, not only for us, but then for the state.”
Wicks adds, online enrollment should make things easier and more efficient for families as well, and points out that there will be kiosks at each of the school buildings where parents can be walked through the process. The Technology Department expects the system to be ready to go in February for new students entering the school midterm, and then it will be fully implemented prior to the start of the 2020-21 school year.
