Dog owners and their furry friends are invited to an event this weekend in Perry, where they can show off their Halloween spirit and raise money for a good cause.

The first annual “Howl-o-ween” Dog Festival will be held Sunday from 1-4 p.m. at the Perry Dog Park, and costumes are encouraged for human and beast alike. There will be a $5 entrance fee, which will benefit the Raccoon River Pet Rescue facility currently being built across the highway from the park. There will be food, games, photo and kissing booths, and a dog costume contest. Participants in the contest are asked to register by 2 p.m. as the judging will begin at 2:30. You can also pre-register your pooch for the contest by calling 515-480-4907. Prizes will be awarded for the best dressed dogs at the event.

The Raccoon Valley Radio Big Red Radio will also be on hand for “Howl-o-ween,” as we will broadcast live from 1-3 p.m., and play music and provide public address services through the entire event.
