A Scranton-based manufacturing company recently announced an expansion in the southern region.
New Way Trucks Incorporated is a garbage truck manufacturer and the company is opening a new location in Booneville, Mississippi. The 152,000-square-foot facility is referred to as “Project Wolverine” with New Way Trucks working closely with the Mississippi Development Authority to secure the site, located at 1 Wolverine Drive. Once the site is operational, New Way will build its Cobra and Viper rear loading garbage trucks, with additional products to follow.

Officials say the site is almost move-in ready. It has overhead cranes, lighting, and sufficient power. New Way Trucks CEO John McLaughlin said the Mississippi location provided a strategic advantage that will benefit their customers and dealers. Another benefit is the creation of 100 new jobs. As part of the hiring process, New Way also partnered with local job networks and Northeast Mississippi Community College.
New fabrication equipment is being delivered and the site is anticipated to be up and running within the next three months. New Way Trucks-Scranton Manufacturing completed an expansion project in Scranton in 2015. The 56,000-square-foot addition was put on the existing facility.
