It’s National Teen Safe Driving Week and law enforcement officials share some safety reminders for our young drivers.
Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams offers these suggestions for teens.
“Just make sure their phones are not in their hands, no texting and driving, no calling and driving (and) depending on your age, whether you can have passengers with you or not. And then as winter approaches just keep in mind to drive for the weather conditions. If you’re going to be late for school or work, I’d rather have you late than balled up in a ditch and transported by ambulance.”
Williams adds to always have proof of insurance, driver’s license and registration in the vehicle the teen is driving. He notes avoid other distractions on the roadway like putting on makeup or looking at a laptop or a book on the dashboard. Williams says the most important task when driving is driving.
